Have you ever noticed that all the travel bloggers seem to be young, good-looking millennials who have quit their jobs to travel to exotic locations all over the world and then sit in an internet café and describe to you all of the magnificent places where you will never go? Well that is NOT us! We are Landon and Melinda Brophy, we are middle-aged, we have both been told by the doctor we need to lose weight and we both have jobs! We love to travel but we also have lives which means the majority of our trips are short weekend getaways either together or with some or all of our four mostly adult children. Fortunately for us we live in one of the most beautiful and diverse places in the world…UTAH!
We have created this blog because we like to find unique and fun adventures in our home state of Utah as well as the surrounding states that can be experienced in a weekend for those of us who have to report back to work on Monday. We have found that there is endless adventure in Utah (or BeUtahful as it is also known) if you just know where to look. We have both spent a majority of our life in Utah and realized we never really knew the state we live in until we got out and started exploring all of the unique, diverse, and beautiful places that make Utah…well Utah! Utah is so full of wonderful places that it has often been noted that a State Park here would be a National Park anywhere else!
As we have traveled this great state and our neighboring states, we have posted pictures of our adventures on Facebook and found that people started asking where the pictures were taken and asking us for our travel itinerary. After coming back from their adventure many people told us we should be travel agents because we seem to know where all the great places are in Utah. Well the secret is, we don’t KNOW these places, we FIND them. We are always looking at brochures, searching the internet and watching TV programs that list the great things to do in Utah and when one catches our interest, we go find it and experience it. In this great state it is easy to find great experiences.
Our intent with this blog is to showcase the many great places we have found to explore in Utah! Our goal is to highlight adventures in Utah and surrounding states and to highlight locally owned restaurants, locally owned accommodations, locally owned businesses, and locally made products whenever we can so that we can support the people and families of these great states. Our challenge to you is twofold… First, if you see a place that interests you, go and experience it first hand while supporting our local economies and… Secondly if you know of a place, event or local product that you love share it with us so that we can experience it as well and share it with our readers.
